Tik Tok is one of the fastest-growing social media platforms in the world with 80 million active users in the United States alone. Nadel's United Kingdom-based team assisted Tik Tok with creating an event gift for their annual client-facing event, which went virtual during the pandemic. Nadel came up with a mid-century motel room service-themed kit, speaking to the lighthearted nostalgia of a road trip and the fantasy of travel when many of us were quarantined at home.
In a highly competitive field, Tik Tok always needs to find ways to stand out in the crowd. It was a key opportunity for us to put our skills to the test and go beyond the typical gift kit that we make for our clients. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we faced global supply chain shortages. Yet, we were determined to meet a fast three-week deadline.
Although this was a relatively simple request with no digital storefront involved, this project required exceptional creativity and hard work on behalf of our design team and global vendors. With quarantine restrictions firmly in place, we wanted to give Tik Tok's clients a fun and imaginative unboxing experience. We harkened back to a simpler, pre-pandemic time of carefree car adventures, funky roadside motels, and befriending fellow travelers.
Each gift recipient (V.I.P guests at the Big Ideas Hotel) received a premium selection of products to enhance their "stay." This included a versatile cinch bag, embroidered towel, silky sleeping mask, bamboo toothbrush, enamel mug, keychain, and even a "do not disturb" door hanger. Anyone would feel right at home at the Big Ideas Hotel!
Tik Tok supplied the logo, but our designers decided where to strategically place it on each piece of merchandise. We collaborated closely with our vendors to find out what was in stock and create unique artwork for each item.
We assisted with sourcing the products, kitting, and mailing to each recipient's address.
Tik Tok was impressed with the outcome and happy with our ability to turn a creative concept around within a short timeline. On top of that, we didn't sacrifice quality: the event attendees received actually useful items that they could use in their everyday lives. Plus, they immediately started posting the products on social media: a sure sign the kit was a hit.
